In May 2018 a team based at Cornerstone Church near Braintree are going to Romania with Stand by Me to visit their work. Our team is going in two groups but will be working on the same projects for the two weeks of the trip.
We'll be helping in projects at the Stand by Me Denisa Day Care Centre where around 50 local primary school children are receiving free quality educational support, nutritious food and health care. We also hope to be visiting families in the community, seeing firsthand the poverty and difficult circumstances that they live with, but also the hope that the work of Stand by Me brings. We will also be spending time with some of the girls at the House of Hope.
There are many challenges that the children, their families and the community face and we are hoping to fundraise to complete projects to enhance their lives. There are a number of current needs so please give whatever you can as it all will help change the lives of amazing children and the adults who so lovingly care for them.
Play Area - Our ambition is to fund and build a play area with swings, climbing walls and ropes.
Bible based Holiday Club – We will be telling Bible stories, doing craft activities and having fun and games around a theme of the cross as it is portrayed in the countries that Stand by Me work in. We hope the children will gain an understanding of who they are in God’s family and the links they have with Stand by Me children across the world. We aim to enhance the children’s pleasure with lots of cake making and trips out for picnics and games!
Gift bags - We want to provide each child at the Denisa Day Care Centre with a bag containing toothbrushes, towels, underwear, games and pens etc. In addition, we would like to bless each of their families with a pack of food and household essentials.
Other help – We are a motley crew with a wide range of skills which we hope to offer to the project in Romania. Some of us hope to help with school support, some are carpenters, some are brilliant bakers, some are young and some are old but we are all excited about this opportunity to be part of the wonderful work of Stand by Me.
