A new kitchen for the Bethany School

Ethiopia Tuesday, 21 November 2017

A big thank you to the supporters, especially Downshire Primary School, who have contributed to fund a new kitchen at our Bekoji Bethany School, helping us feed 480 kids a day.

The Bethany School in Bekoji, Ethiopia is transforming the lives of some of the world’s poorest children through a quality education, daily food, health care and family support. Each morning they come to school nice and early to receive a bread roll and cup of hot sugary tea to start the day and at lunch they receive a nutritious meal of injera.

For many of our children in our Stand by Me Schools, the meals they receive each at school are the only food they will have. Our children are often from desperately poor homes, have many brothers and sisters and food is scarce. To receive food each day at school gives them extra strength, the ability to concentrate on their lessons and better health.

Our new kitchen will make sure we have room to accommodate each and every one of our children and our cooks will have everything they need to make our kids' food extra tasty!

Downshire Primary School chose Stand by Me as their charity of the year and raised funds through lots of activities. Thank you Downshire Primary and all of our supporters who helped to fund the new kitchen, our kids are thriving thanks to you!

Stand by... almost there...
