Cooking up a bright future

16 year old Engler has been at part of the family at the Guatemala Rehoboth children’s home for six years. His home parents in Guatemala are feeling sentimental; Engler is not a child anymore and is growing into a young man currently attending a private school on a three year course on cooking.

We have seen Engler achieve so much and grow into a lovely boy despite great difficulty in his early years, joining the home after being removed from his family due to physical abuse. At our home he received the loving care he needed to grow in his health and education but also in his sense of worth.

Since becoming a part of the Stand by Me family, Engler has gone from strength to strength, excelling at school and given the opportunity to study at one of the best English Schools in Antigua. He has made the Stand by Me family very proud.

During his three year cooking course Engler will learn the basic knowledge of cooking and preserving different meats, vegetables and fruits. When he completes his training he will be qualified and ready to go to college to become an International Chef.

Engler attributes his success at school, and in life, partly to the generous support of his sponsors that are supporting and encouraging him. Child Sponsorship is a fantastic way to impact a child’s life. Sponsoring a child means so much more than a monthly donation; it means a child feels loved and cared for and that they are part of a wider family across the world.

Stand by... almost there...
