The Indo Burma region in Northeast India has experienced years of conflict and instability, leaving many children vulnerable and without the support they need. Many have lost their parents due to violence and ethnic conflict, while limited access to healthcare and education continues to impact families and communities. Girls, in particular, often face discrimination and barriers that limit their opportunities.

Our work in India
When we met Pastor Thongngam in 2004, he had little resources but a big vision: to reach abandoned children living on the streets. We partnered with him to make that vision a reality, and today Agape Children’s Home is a safe haven where children, especially girls, are finding love, confidence and hope for the future.
2005
We came alongside Agape Children’s Home, providing care and hope for children who had been orphaned or abandoned because of violence and ethnic conflict
2006
We carried out building projects to improve facilities and the health of our children, including new toilets, a kitchen, bedrooms and study areas
2007
To help children stay with their families while receiving an education, we began covering school costs for children in the local community
2013
We were grateful to build a new children’s home for girls, allowing us to welcome nine more girls into our care
2014
We were delighted when border restrictions were lifted, allowing our children to travel into Burma and our UK staff to meet them for the first time
Nemneichan
These are our kids in India. They're warm, enthusiastic and joyful. We love watching them grow.
Nemneichan was four years old when her father died. Without the support of a husband, her mother struggled to provide for Nemneichan and her seven siblings.
With eight mouths to feed, the family sank further into poverty. Deprived of basic nutrition, healthcare and education, life was hard.
When we heard of their plight, we welcomed Nemneichan and her sister into our home. When she arrived she was malnourished and in desperate need of good food and healthcare. Today she is a healthy, happy and confident girl. She loves singing, playing volleyball and reading novels.
